Beijing World Trade Corporation (“BWTC” for short) is a state-owned comprehensive foreign trade enterprise. Its history can be traced back to the China National Technical Import and Export Corporation Beijing Company, a company established with the approval of Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (formerly called Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation) and Beijing People’s Government in October of 1984. It specializes in introducing foreign technology, import of complete plants, high- and new-technology products and raw materials in large quantities. In 1992, it was renamed as BWTC. With a registered asset of RMB 18.17 million, BWTC now has the Certificate of A-Grate International Tendering Organization, as well as the Certificate of Government Procurement and Tendering Agency. The company locates at the center of CBD, alongside the Chang-an Street. Since the beginning of 1980’s, BWTC started to undertake the technology and equipment import for urban infrastructure facilities, and technology renovation projects. In 1986, it began to be engaged in business of tendering and procurement projects using loan or donation from foreign governments. From 1991, it began to undertake international procurement through competitive bidding under loans from World Bank, Asian Development Bank and other international financial institutions. From 1998, it began to undertake tendering and import of government procurement projects. By long-term practice, BWTC has accumulated a lot of experience in negotiation and implementation of contract, also has owned a high-caliber and highly professional staff team. Both in 1989 and 1990, BWTC was listed as one of the 200 enterprises with highest import and export value of China. Since 1991, it had been listed successively by the MOFTEC as the one of the 500 enterprises with highest import and export value of China. For almost 20 years, BWTC and its predecessor have completed a lot of projects covering state-plan-projects, urban infrastructure facilities and technology import and renovation projects of large and medium size enterprises, introducing technology, complete plants and raw materials in large quantities for all the provinces, regions and cities in the country. The total amount is more than 4 billion US dollars.
