Cap and pin insulators are generally used on overhead transmission and distribution network to evacuate bulk power over long distances. The insulators could be in suspension or tension made in string form to insulate the cable from tower. Depending on pollution behavior of the terrain, the standard type and Anti-Fog type (High Creepage distance) are used. Every insulator is tested with hydraulic pressure and electrical stresses followed with routine mechanical and electrical test as per IEC & ANSI standard after assembling with cement and metal parts.
