Description
DCL explosion proof electric actuators are widely used for explosive gases environment. High temperature may ignite the flammable gases out of actuator. T4 grade requires the highest enclosure outside surface’s temperature must be less than 135℃(300F), in whatever conditions. Considering a buffer for errors may happen, the temperature set for motor power down is 125℃(282F). PTC overheat protector is embedded in the motor winding-trips, where is the highest temperature rise part of whole actuator, instead of out of motor, to 100% ensure outer surface temperature will not go beyond required T4 grade.
On the other hand, motor must be proper designed and quality controlled. Motor’s power, wire diameter, number of coil turns, magnet material and capacitance connect to motor will influence the motor’s temperature rise. So professional actuator manufacturer must design its own motors with specifications that can best match with its gear drives. General motor will cause frequently power off with heavy duty rate and can hardly satisfy explosion proof requirements for temperature
