The predecessor of Guangxi Wuzhou Sunwatt Battery Co.,Ltd. was Wuzhou Branch of Guangzhou Xinghua Battery Factory, which was founded in 1937 in Fumin Lane, Wuzhou city by Mr.Pan Zhuangxiu, the owner of Guangzhou Xinghua Battery Factory. A year later the site of the factory was moved to Yijiasi, 1st West Lane, Dazhongshang Road. After reorganized in Sept. 1945, it was renamed "Wuzhou Xinghua Battery Factory" and it managed on its own with an annual capacity of more than one million dry cells. In 1949, its annual output reached 3.745 million dry cells. The original cost of its fixed assets was 20 thousand CN yuan. Approved by Wuzhou Municipal Government, Wuzhou Xinghua Battery Factory carried out a mode of public-private joint operation on Nov.25, 1954. It changed its name into "Wuzhou Battery Factory" the following year. In 1962, it moved to the present address: No.13, Xidi 2nd Road, Wuzhou. On Jan.1, 1992, approved by Wuzhou Municipal Government, Wuzhou Battery Factory merged the original Wuzhou Ceramics Factory. On May 8, 1994, Wuzhou Battery Factory was reorganized from a sole proprietorship into Wuzhou Sunwatt Battery (Group) Co.,Ltd. In Nov. 1997, it purchased Wuzhou Daily Chemicals Instrumental Appurtenance Plant. In Dec. 1998, it took up Wuzhou Carbon Plant and Wuzhou Synthetic Diamond Factory. In May 2001, it changed its name to the present Guangxi Wuzhou Sunwatt Battery Co.,Ltd. Through 65 years' development, now Guangxi Wuzhou Sunwatt Battery Co.,Ltd has turned into a large-scale state-controlling comprehensive enterprise, specializing in producing dry cells as its main products and runs import & export trading, real estate development, property management and food & drink services in addition. It is designated by the National General Chamber of Light Industry to be one of the key enterprises in the State Light ndustry and approved by the State Ministry of Foreign Economic & Trade to be an enterprise with the right of self-import & export.
