Established on August 8, 1981, China Communications Import and Export Corporation (CIESCO) is a trading company operating mainly in the transportation sector. CIESCO used to be a state-owned company directly under the Ministry of Communications, China. It was merged with China Merchants Group in 1998 as its wholly owned member specializing in international trade. CIESCO’s business scope mainly includes: new shipbuilding and ship brokerage; ship repair and ship chartering; import and export of transportation vehicles, mechanical and electrical machinery and equipment, spare parts, instrument and technology, etc; and suppliers for projects financed with foreign loans.
