Completion of the Project
Merowe Dam Project is a multipurpose scheme for hydropower generation. It is basically intended for generating hydropower, which is considered as the largest hydropower station along the mainstream of the Nile River, second only to the Aswan Dam in Egypt. The project has a high priority in the National Comprehensive Strategy, saving the country from an acute shortage of electricity, and to boosting their economic and social development.
