The wedge wire screen is mounted on a perforated base tube, covering the perforation along the entire pipe. The screen is put on the perforated pipe as a casing and welded. Sand screen performance depends on the slot size that is defined from granulometric analysis of the composition of sand particles is used. 

To safely run the liner with sand screens into the hole, the technology of protecting the perforations of the base pipe from premature penetration of the fluid into the well can be applied. This technology is based on the use of special caps, which are pressed inside the base pipe and prevent the inflow of the fluid. After the liner has been installed, the caps are cut with a special tool inside the base tube or removed with hydrochloric acid.
