Electric Screw Press

The motor drives the flywheel through the gear unit, with the screw pair the press ram moving upward and downward. When receiving the signal to start, the motor accelerates the flywheel from zero velocity to the demanded speed through gear unit, and then the press ram stroke the work piece to release the energy stored by the flywheel. Afterwards, the motor reverses the flywheel. When the screw returns to a certain angle, the motor goes into the dynamic braking to consume the kinetic energy, then the press ram stops at the initial position, and a total stroke is completed. Energy recovery form regenerative braking during the return of stroke makes lower power costs. Because braking process is mainly implemented by the motor and the mechanical brake only act when the press ram approach its upper dead point, so that it makes the reduction of wear and maintenance on the mechanical brake.
