Under a memorandum of understanding, MCC Group and Australia Resourcehouse Limited agreed to co-develop a $US5.15 billion, 40 million tonnes per annum mine in Queensland. Pioneered by MCC Overseas, MCC will not only be the EPC contractor for the project, but also arrange debt funding of up to 85 percent of the total capital cost, estimated at $US3.1 billion, from Chinese banks. The project includes the construction of the coal mine, 490 kilometres of railway line and a two-berth export terminal at Abbot Point. On January the 29th, 2010, MCC Overseas signed with Resourcehouse Limited the EPCM contract, which will have significant implications for advancing MCC Overseas project management level.
