I was inaugurated as President of China Northern Locomotive and Rolling Stock Industry (Group) Corporation in Sept. 2000. From 2000 to 2004, we supply markets with 757 electric locomotives, 1,640 diesel locomotives, 7,409 passenger coaches and 74,440 freight wagons. Awarded its largest-ever rail contracts in 2001 for the supply of 69 diesel locomotives and 175 passenger coaches to Pakistan, and in 2003 for the supply of 105 metro cars for Iran. We also had a contract of 119 metro cars for Iran and 220 skeletal container wagons for Australia in the past year. We intend to apply and popularize new technology to realize the leaping development. The fruits of this effort have brought new products: “China Star” 270km/h AC propulsion electric multiple units, “Sky Shuttle” AC drive electric locomotive, SS7E module design passenger electric locomotive, prototype of high speed diesel tilting trainsets, etc. “China Star” reached a speed record 321.5 km/h in Nov. 2002 and has pass through 500,000 km test running.
